What is MIPI Embedded Vision used for in practice?
What is MIPI Embedded Vision used for in practice?
Embedded Vision forms the foundation for integrating optical sensors and image processing directly into devices. Instead of relying on power-hungry industrial PCs, highly efficient VC MIPI Camera Modules are connected to compact processor boards. In addition to this modular design, complete systems that execute image data processing directly on the hardware are also used. This so-called edge processing—meaning analysis directly at the data's point of origin—is the core element of embedded vision solutions.
The MIPI CSI-2 interface has established itself as the universal standard for connecting cameras and processors. For long-term success, uncompromising industrial quality and reliable long-term availability of components are crucial.
In which industries is Embedded Vision with MIPI cameras particularly widespread?
In which industries is Embedded Vision with MIPI cameras particularly widespread?
Classic fields of application for embedded vision technology lie in industrial automation and quality control. The technology is also widely used in driver assistance systems, traffic monitoring, medical technology, and smart farming. Thanks to rapid advances in edge processors and artificial intelligence, embedded vision is also increasingly finding its way into smart household appliances and other professional electronics. VC MIPI Based Solutions prove their reliability even under the most extreme conditions—ranging from humanoid robotic systems to deployments in space.
What are concrete examples of Embedded Vision and MIPI CSI-2 applications?
What are concrete examples of Embedded Vision and MIPI CSI-2 applications?
Industry & Manufacturing: Optical inspection systems for continuous process monitoring, such as the automated inspection of weld seams.
Automotive: Integrated camera systems for safety features such as lane-keeping and emergency braking assistants or traffic sign recognition.
Agricultural Technology: Intelligent systems for precision farming that autonomously identify and targetedly combat weeds, or determine the ripeness of fruit directly within a harvesting robot.
VC MIPI Cameras are used, among other things, in AMRs from Liebherr and in satellites for the TIM/TOM mission by the Center for Telematics (Zentrum für Telematik e.V.).
