Vision Components presents its intelligent all-in-one camera VC EvoCam at the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV), taking place September 8-12 in Malmö, Sweden; the exhibition runs September 10-12 at Malmömässan. Further highlights on the booth include the MIPI cameras VC MIPI IMX540 with a 24.5-megapixel global shutter sensor from Sony and VC MIPI AR2020 with an image sensor from Onsemi, as well as new cable options for the VC MIPI Bricks System.

VC EvoCam: All-in-One Camera with Onboard Edge AI Processor
The VC EvoCam is a tiny 65 x 40 mm intelligent board-level camera that integrates a MediaTek Genio 510 Edge AI processor along with all components for image acquisition and image processing. It can be configured with an onboard image sensor or with one or two cable-connected remote-head image sensors from the VC MIPI portfolio, and individually adapted to the respective application via interface boards. The NPU of the MediaTek processor delivers a performance of 3.2 TOPS; the camera ships with a customized Debian Linux operating system that natively supports common image processing functions.
New MIPI Cameras: VC MIPI IMX540 and VC MIPI AR2020
The new MIPI Camera VC MIPI IMX540 features a global shutter image sensor from Sony's Pregius S series in 1.2" format. With a pixel size of 2.74 µm, it delivers a resolution of 24.5 megapixels (5,328 x 4,608 pixels) at 22 frames per second in 8-bit mode. With its high sensitivity, it is well suited for AI applications such as humanoid robots as well as for object and people detection.
The VC MIPI AR2020 is also a new camera module. It features the rolling shutter image sensor AR2020 from Onsemi's Hyperlux LP family, and offers a resolution of 20 megapixels (5,120 x 3,840 pixels) at up to 24 frames per second in 10-bit mode. The MIPI camera is sensitive into the NIR range and requires low power — ideal for Edge AI and IoT applications. It is available as a monochrome or color version.
As with all VC MIPI Cameras, Vision Components also provides free source code drivers for the VC MIPI IMX540 and VC MIPI AR2020.

VC MIPI Bricks System: Accessories for Easy Integration
In addition, Vision Components presents the VC MIPI Bricks System at ECCV — a modular accessory system for all VC MIPI Cameras. It has most recently been expanded with new cable variants of up to 50 cm in length and an adapter board for trigger inputs and outputs. This embedded vision toolkit ranges from matching cables — optionally available as micro-coax or GMSL2 for cable lengths of up to 10 meters — to FPGA accelerators for integration directly into the MIPI data stream, all the way to custom-configured MIPI cameras including optics mounting and calibration. This significantly speeds up prototyping and series integration of embedded vision solutions.
