VC MIPI FPC cable

MIPI-CSI-2 cables for the connection between MIPI cameras and processor boards have to fulfill the highest requirements in terms of transmission speed and reliability.

Our specially developed FPC cable (Flexible Printed Circuit) is available in three standard variants with 15, 22 and 24 poles, in 60 mm, 100 mm and 200 mm lengths. It can thus be connected to all common single-board computers and CPU boards and makes optimum use of the available power of the MIPI interface.

With four lanes and a processing speed of 1.5 GBit/s per lane achievable by most processors, transfer rates of 6 GBit/s are possible, which corresponds to 750 MB/s with an 8-bit pixel resolution.

Trigger I/Os & Custom MIPI Cables

The VC MIPI cables feature a trigger input and a flash output. They enable video streams as well as individual recordings and do not interfere with the host system. Individual settings such as shutter speed, gain, image size and position as well as binning can be adjusted for each image. Very fast processes can be captured and synchronized with the cables and an external trigger. For special requirements, we develop customer- specific cables with an external trigger output or the option to connect an I/O board.

Micro-Coax Cables for MIPI Cameras

Up to 750 mm cable length

For longer and even more flexible cable connections between the MIPI camera module and processor boards, VC offers micro-coax cables with I-PEX connectors. These specially shielded cables enable data transmission over distances of up to 750 mm.

The VC MIPI® cameras are optionally available with an adapter permanently integrated into the design for fast data transmission via GMSL2 coaxial cable with MMCX connector.

Compatible with all processor boards: we provide MIPI camera drivers in source code

VC MIPI® Cameras are compatible with all processor platforms with MIPI CSI-2 interface. We provide MIPI drivers in source code for quick and easy integration. In addition, VC MIPI® Camera Modules are supported by the LibCamera open source library.

 

Numerous processor boards and platforms such as Raspberry Pi®, NVIDIA® Jetson and NXP® including the i.MX8M series are tried and tested with VC MIPI® Camera Modules. For these platforms, extended standard drivers and development kits with VC MIPI® Cameras are already available.

The tiny FPGA hardware accelerators VC Power SoM and VC Power SoC can be integrated into the design of your embedded vision application like any component. For VC Power SoC, the chip is already part of the VC Camera Module. The FPGA accelerators handles complex image pre-processing, such as color space conversion, barcode identification or data fusion, directly in the MIPI data stream. This reduces your development effort and gives you even more flexibility in the choice of your processor board.

LED-Ringbeleuchtung für MIPI Kamera
LED Ring Light
The LED ring light with 12 high-performance LEDs provides optimum illumination for your embedded vision application. The ring light is available in two versions: with infrared LEDs at 850 nm and with red LEDs at 656 nm. It has a simple plug-in connection.

The VC MIPI® CMI Board contains two LED controllers with 1.5 A each to integrate the lighting.
Accessories MIPI camera modules: Positive polarizing filter
MIPI Cameras with Polarization Filter
Our MIPI camera modules with optional polarization filters offer an efficient solution to reduce glare and reflections with optional polarization filters. This enhances contrast and delivers better image results, even onf shiny surfaces. The filter foil is applied directly onto the sensor package. The angle and direction of the filter can be determined.

For applications requiring multi-directional filtering, we offer VC MIPI Cameras with Sony sensors IMX250MZR and IMX252MZR on request. These sensors filter light from four directions.
